8:30pm - The Mike Rood Reunion
Mike currently leads The Mike Rood Communion, which performs avidly in
the New York area. The group has appeared at such New York venues as
Iridium, Fat Cat, Tea Lounge, Puppets Jazz Bar, Spike Hill, Sweet
Rhythm, The Triad Theater, Shrine, and The Living Room, as well as GiG
Performance Space in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the Bern Jazz Festival
in Bern, Switzerland. The group’s repertoire ranges from members’
original music to new arrangements of jazz standards and classical
pieces.

9:30pm - Colin Stranahan Quintet
“Music is so important in our world today. My goal is to reach out to
people, to connect with them. If I'm playing for 5 people or 1,000, my
goal is to always touch people in some way. Music is so beautiful
because not only do I get to express myself, but also the listener can
interpret what they are hearing in any way. It’s about communication
and sharing our stories with each other.”

10:30pm - Samir Zarif
Deemed, “Jazz Alternative,”this
sub-genre has become the niche that
has made Samir Zarif a special
addition to not only the jazz scene but
also within the realm of the singer/
songwriting’s world as well. When
asked how he came up with this new
approach to his music, Zarif simply
replied, “I just started writing and
performing the music I wanted to hear
with no attachments or definitions as
to what I was doing.”
